The personnel at seasons At Southpoint made the transition to the assisted living for my wife so easy. Shazma in marketing was especially helpful during the difficult and complex period after finding out that my wife would need 24 hour care. My anxiety level was very high and she seemed to understand and support me and my wife in all the ways that I needed and truly appreciate.. All of the personnel have been simply terrific in helping my wife (and me) adjust to this new reality. I can't say enough positive things about this facility and all who work there.
My husband has Alzheimer's. Because of a painful fall, infection and fever,, and neuro-inflammation as a side effect of Alzheimer's, my husband was in the ER for 11 nights. His doctor recommended discharge to a memory care facility to titrate and optimize his medication management, occupational therapy to stabilize his core and ADL's, and assistance with personal care. Thus far, in spite of multiple discussions with multiple staff members, he is not receiving several of the medications his doctor ordered, he is receiving some medications that his doctor did not order, and he is receiving some medications at the wrong time of day triggering diarrhea, and he is dosed with three times the amount of Seroquel ordered by his doctor. The staff implements medical decisions without getting a doctor's order or my approval as his HPOA. That is illegal. Moreover, They refuse to cue him to put his CPAP on at night, and they don't help him put his hearing aids on the charger. I have visited every day at different times. The tables in the dining room are unstable and unsafe, the staff complains about residents who walk. With some exceptions, they demean and are very rude to other residents. Kadeisha, Leslie, and Latoya are very good. Nicole screamed at me when I complained about the feces on the shower floor which had been there for three days. Nicole informed me she is not trained to hand my husband his CPAP mask. Nicole also told me I should care for my husband myself. I would but when he falls, I fall too and we both end up in the ER. At 80 years old, I don't have thevsame stamina that I had when I was younger. I shower my husband and get him ready for bed. So far, they have not implemented his doctor's OT prescription. Yesterday when I attempted to sign him up for a haircut, they told me they are in between vendors. I received an email from Corporate to set up the Family Portal and received an error message that I do not have an account. Likewise with the medical online account. I have attempted multiple times to discuss these issues with the Executive Director who refuses to meet with me. In my search to find an alternative for my husband, I have encountered several individuals who previously worked at Seasons and confirmed that Seasons is notorious for delivering poor care and poor management. This facility has serious compliance deficiencies. The quality of care is terrible.
DO NOT RECOMMEND
My stepfather had been living at this facility for several months when our family received a call informing us that he had supposedly fallen in an open hallway. However, EMS contacted my sister and expressed concern that his injuries did not appear consistent with a typical fall. This occurred on a Wednesday.
The following Sunday, I accompanied my mother to visit him at Duke University Hospital, where he had been transferred from the original hospital where EMS took him that Wednesday. From Duke University (on Sunday when I got to visit him with my mom) we learned that he had suffered a broken jaw and bleeding in his brain. His left fist was severely bruised, and he also had significant bruising on the inside of his left arm. Given the nature and location of these injuries, our family has serious questions about the explanation that they were all caused by a fall in an open hallway.
We are deeply concerned that there may be more to this incident than we have been told. We filed a police report and are waiting to learn whether investigators can obtain and review any available surveillance footage. One staff member we spoke with on Sunday claimed that she witnessed him fall, but we still have many unanswered questions.
It has not even been a week since this happened, and our family is devastated and heartbroken. We hope the police investigation and any available video evidence will provide an accurate account of what happened to him.
Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this facility. We also had concerns about cleanliness. The soap dispenser in his room was not refilled during the months he lived there, and the bathrooms frequently smelled strongly of urine. It appeared that only minimal cleaning was being done. Following the incident, most staff members were unwilling or unable to provide us with meaningful information.
Our family believes residents deserve to be safe, treated with dignity, and properly cared for and families deserve honesty when incidents occurs.
—I wish I could post pictures but it doesn’t give me that option here.
The community is beautiful, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed to feel like home. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure residents are engaged, supported, and treated with dignity and respect. Their programming and activities create meaningful opportunities for connection and joy.
If you’re looking for a senior living community that prioritizes both quality care and a family-like environment, I highly recommend They are truly making a difference in the lives of the residents they serve.
To have a loved one that is in need of memory care is a rough and tough decision to handle. To be turned away and not have no idea of where to go or turn is also rough and hard to handle. On this amazing Monday I called 20 care places, 15 said no, 5 I left a message and only 2 called back. Sophie called me back and my heart went into tears. She said, "What do I need for my aunt and how can she help." She actually contacted one of her sisters homes and kept in touch with me the entire time. Sophie showed compassion and the willingness to help regards of the funding source. More of her is needed in this world period. She didn't turn me away, she offered to help. With those qualities I would have been willing to put my aunt into her care with no questions ask. The Season at Southpoint is very lucky to have her as apart of their staff. Way to go Sophie and I am very, very grateful for you and continue your greatness in helping others. Kool beans.
