I encourage everyone to advocate for themselves and their loved ones when exploring senior living options. Brookdale Durham is worth a visit to ask your questions and explore your options. Every Brookdale community is different and has its own unique feel, so it's worth visiting each one to see what works best for your family. I've found Kourtney and Chelsea at Brookdale Durham to be approachable, respectful, and informative, and they were happy to answer my questions.
My parents are both residents at Brookdale Durham. In the months they've been there, I've seen so much kindness and care from the staff. Moving into assisted living and memory care isn't easy for the person moving or for their family, and we've been very well supported all along the way.
From the moment I stepped in, I could feel the warmth of this community. The "Beautiful" courtyard, lively finch enclosure, and peaceful fish tanks created such a welcoming atmosphere. The common spaces were thoughtfully designed, and I was pleasantly surprised by the ample parking—something you don’t always find! But what truly stood out was the staff. They weren’t just present; they were engaged, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care. It’s clear this is a place where people feel at home. My visit left a lasting impression, and I’m so grateful for the experience!
A serious check up needs to be made. Soon of the patients rooms looks bad. I spoke my relative and shared a brief conversation about the cleanliness and living conditions. He informed me that in fact the outside is all makeup. The inside patients deal with dirty rooms from feces that no one helps clean up, some aren't fed properly including my relative and some are overall neglected until someone of an important job comes.
Currently looking relocation for them now! Please refrain from this place for a relative especially if they're in their last days until they can have a better trained more responsible staff. It was heartbreaking hearing my uncle talk like that.
We recently toured Brookdale Durham, and from the first conversation, we felt genuinely welcomed. As a Jewish family, we were pleasantly surprised (and deeply appreciative) when he showed us that they offer Shabbat services right on site. It’s not something we expected, but it really made us feel seen. 🕯️
The staff are kind and attentive, and there’s a calm, comfortable energy throughout the community. It’s clear they care about creating a space that respects different backgrounds and traditions.
Brookdale feels like a place where our loved one can thrive—not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually too. ❤️
