Starling at Ponte Vedra has been a wonderful experience for my Mother and for me as well. The memory care unit is a tightly run ship under the calm watchful eye of its director Chaun. He sets a high bar for the staff and they rise to his expectations and are fantastic. They treat the residents like family and genuinely care about them. It shows in the ways they interact as well as the ways they care for residents. The memory care unit has a routine of activities that residents can count on so they begin to recognize the pattern of the day which helps decrease some of the anxiety. They love the games and exercises in the brightly lit congregate space. Meals are served family style in a beautiful dining room and the food is unexpectedly great. Every Wednesday and Friday they have entertainers who play music and it’s the highlight of everyone’s week. Mom came from another location and moving is a challenge but she adapted quickly thanks to the staffs kindness. Mom is thriving and happy and I am grateful to have her on a safe loving facility
The remodeling project at Starling Ponte Vedra has been completed. I must admit the results are stunning. It is bright, cheerful and impressive. Upon first glance a 5 star resort comes to mind.
The best part of the facility is however it’s staff. From the Director throughout the organization everyone gives 100%. All are approachable and do listen to any concerns.
Having my mother there after her stroke is a very good thing. My siblings and I are impressed. Well done.
My wife was a resident of Starling Ponte Vedra for one and one/half years, until she was evicted 2-9-26. She has been in a wheelchair for the past year and Starting evidently had no trouble transferring her from wheelchair to bed during that time. All of a sudden a new memory care director arrives and within about three weeks four residents, all in wheelchairs, were evicted. The reason was stated as “too difficult to transfer, needs skilled nursing “. The problem is Starting does not possess a ECC (Extended Congregate Care” license. Memory Care Facilities with a ECC license can provide extended care that Starling cannot provide. So if you are looking to place a loved one in a memory care facility, you are much further ahead by finding a place that provides ECC coverage rather than going to a facility that can only provide very basic care, then evicts the resident when additional care is required.
I used to love Starling and the services it provided. However I noticed a significant change this spring. I know there were changes with the management team and I don’t think those changes were a good idea. I’ve noticed staff seem less happy and excited to be there. Turnover has been terrible. And I feel like it’s not the same it used to be. It pains me to write this because I always thought this was the greatest community in the area and I no longer feel that way. Honestly, if I could give it zero stars, I would.
Disappointed in the decline of food selection, dining room service is slow, at best.
