1 Star — A very disappointing experience
My father was a resident at Granite Gate in Prescott for several years. Stellar Senior Living took over the facility in September 2025, and unfortunately, the quality of care declined significantly after that.
Staff turnover was substantial, and many experienced employees left without being adequately replaced. Transportation was reduced from two drivers to one part-time driver. The food quality also declined considerably after several good cooks left.
I met with management shortly after Stellar took over and specifically discussed my concerns about my father's medications and the amount of time it took for staff to respond when he needed help. I was assured these issues would be addressed. They were not.
During my father's final six months, he experienced numerous falls and was frequently in significant pain. There were occasions when he waited hours for his prescribed pain medication. On one particularly disturbing occasion, he lay in his own feces for approximately three hours while repeatedly trying to get someone to respond to his nurse call. We would frequently enter his room and find it very unclean, even after housekeeping had supposedly cleaned it. The floors were sometimes literally sticky after they had been cleaned. When my father began using a wheelchair and needed additional assistance, he sometimes waited up to an hour for someone to take him to meals or bring him back to his room.
His level of care was repeatedly increased, resulting in significantly higher charges, while we continued to have serious concerns about the care he was actually receiving. We also found that he was being given medications that were no longer needed and being charged for them.
Communication with management was extremely frustrating. My calls frequently went unanswered, and messages were often not returned.
My father has now passed away. He spent approximately 11 years in assisted living, during which time five different companies operated the facilities where he lived. Stellar Senior Living was, by far, our family's worst experience.
I am sharing this review so other families considering this facility will ask very specific questions about staffing, nurse-call response times, medication management, transportation, food service, and communication with families. These are people's parents and loved ones, and they deserve better.
I often visit a family friend who has been living here for awhile now and everytime I have gone on in to visit her the new chef Bob is out of the kitchen talking to all the residents. It is amazing to see him out and be so friendly with the residents. I am so glad you have someone so welcoming on your staff. Keep up the good work Bob you are truly a blessing to see around.
I live at Granite Gate. Everybody here is nice and go out of their way to help you. They are polite. I couldn't ask for better surroundings. The food is mostly good, but always enough to eat. There are a few staff members that stand out like Dakota and Tammy who have been especially friendly and helpful.
I have a friend at Granite Gate and visit often and am always impressed. It’s warm, welcoming and very clean. Residents and staff seem so happy and there is always a positive atmosphere. It has a resort style feeling but still feels homey. When my time comes, I know where I’ll be going!
My mom, 89 years old, with limited mobility, moved in December 18th and she is very happy there. The food is remarkable, the place is elegant, the facility has a lot of activities, both inside and off premises. The staff is very kind and attentive. The residents are friendly and welcoming. It's located in the beautiful Granite Hills in Prescott. I feel she is very secure there. It is pricy, but competitively, and it's worth it.
